The City of Kerrville, Kerr County, and local leadership partners will be hosting a COVID-19 Community Update at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. The event will be conducted via ZOOM and will be televised live on the city’s broadcast channel (Spectrum Channel 2) or on the city’s live stream at https://kerrvilletx.gov/1328/Kerrville-City-Channel.
On Tuesday, Peterson Health reported 45 new active cases of COVID-19 and has 19 patients currently hospitalized due to virus complications. The recent case counts still do not include last week’s free testing clinic numbers.
According to recent data from the DSHS two more residents have died from the novel coronavirus at Waterside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, making the facility’s official fatality count 12.
As of Dec. 15, Texas has officially reported 1,352,489 confirmed cases and 148,049 probable cases of COVID-19 in the state. Over the past seven days, the state has seen an average of 11,105 new confirmed cases and 2,208 new probable cases each day. Over the past seven days, Texas has reported an average of 191 deaths each day due to the virus.
Kerrville’s Tivy High School announced that two students tested positive for COVID-19 Dec. 15. Tivy currently has 9 active cases, 7 of those are students and 2 are staff members. If 2% of the total students/staff at a campus have an active case of COVID-19, the district will temporarily close the campus for a period of up to 5 days.
