Kerr County property owners asked to submit damage reports as FEMA pushes decision deadline to May 20

Kerr County property owners who have not done so yet are asked to fill out a survey – no matter how small or extensive the damage was from the extreme winter storm back in mid-February. According to Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas, “We received word that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has postponed the deadline for receiving storm damage reports to May 20.”

FEMA will use those same reports to make a decision as to whether or not Kerr County qualifies for the Individual Assistance declaration and additional federal aid that is included with that. “It doesn’t take but a few minutes of your time and, in the end, it could mean a huge, positive difference for some of our county’s residents who would otherwise have a tough and much longer time recovering from the storm,” Thomas said.

The county has filled out “pSTAT” surveys and submitted them to FEMA. Individual property owners are being asked to fill out a survey online at:

FEMA criteria for determining a county as eligible for Individual Assistance are that there were at least 5 homes destroyed or that suffered major damage from the storm, the damaged/destroyed residences have no insurance coverage or are uninsured and that photos supporting those major damage claims have been provided.

Thomas goes on to add that it doesn’t matter if repairs have already been made but photographic evidence must be included. Anyone who has already submitted information but did not include photos is asked to resubmit with photographs.

For further questions contact Thomas at (830) 315-2430 during regular business hours.
