Kerr County Regional Center announces upcoming attractions

The Kerr County Regional History Center is currently presenting “Lone Star and Eagle: German Immigration to Texas,” an exhibition by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The exhibition is free and available to the public from October 5 to November 4, and the site is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Humanities Texas develops and supports diverse programs across the state, including lectures, oral history projects, teacher institutes, traveling exhibitions and documentary films. Anyone wanting additional information can visit www.humanitiestexas.org, or call (512) 440-1991.

On Saturday, October 9, at 2 p.m., the Center will be hosting Dr. Michael Cude, who will be presenting a history of German immigration and migration in Texas and the Texas Hill Country. Cude is an active professor of history at Schreiner University and the author of “History Snapshots: Europe, Ancient and Classical.”

Cude’s lecture will be followed by a culinary presentation given by Stacey Whittemore, a Certified Health Coach, Master Preserver, and Master Wellness Volunteer. All events are free of charge.

The Kerr Regional History Center is located at 425 Water Street on the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library campus and serves as a repository for regionally significant historical and geological collections and research center.
