Kerr County urges citizens to use caution when using fireworks

Kerr County commissioners are reminding citizens to exercise caution when using fireworks as people ring in the New Year 2025.  “The public is encouraged to exercise caution, voluntary restraint and sound judgement in any and all use of fireworks during these windy conditions,” said Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly.

The legal sale of fireworks is continuing, according to Kerr County officials.  The statutory time period to limit the use of aerial fireworks has expired, and conditions have worsened.  Officials say that conditions are ripe for potential wildfires.

Commissioners decided to implement a county-wide burn ban on Monday, December 30, after being informed of the current hazardous weather outlook.  The ban on open-flame, open-air burning is now in effect in Kerr County Precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4 until further notice.
