The City of Kerrville has announced that candidate application packets are now available for persons interested in running on the May 7, 2022 ballot for a place on the Kerrville City Council. Packets can be picked up in the city secretary’s office at City Hall, 701 Main Street, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The first day for filing an application is January 19, and the last day to file is February 18. The candidate’s name and place for which he/she is filing must be affixed by the city secretary at the time of the application and petition. Applications must include a filing fee of $100, unless a petition is included with not less than 100 signatures of qualified and registered voters of the city.

Positions on the upcoming ballot include Mayor, Councilmember Place Three and Councilmember Place Four. Currently, Bill Blackburn holds the position of Mayor, Judy Eychner holds the position of Councilmember Place Three and Brenda Hughes holds the position of Councilmember Place Four. In accordance with the city charter, any person who is a registered voter of the city and lawfully qualifies may file an application.

Qualifications are listed in the Texas Election Code and the Kerrville City Charter. Candidates are elected and new elected members assume office without party or partisan mark or designation, elected at large, and serve a two-year term.
