The City of Kerrville is one of a handful of Hill Country communities expecting many visitors coming to the area to witness the total solar eclipse occurring on Monday, April 8.  In anticipation of these guests, the City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Kerrville Eclipse Festival and is organizing separate eclipse viewing locations.

Off-site paid event parking for the Kerrville Eclipse Festival will be available at Tivy High School, 3250 TX-534 Loop, for $60 per vehicle.  Registration for off-site parking officially opens on February 27.  Those wishing to reserve an event parking spot can do so by visiting www.kerrvilletx.gov/eclipsefestival.  At-the-gate sales will NOT occur on the day of the event.  Beginning March 11, the cost of parking will increase to $100 per vehicle.

A shuttle will be made available which will take attendees from Tivy High School to the Kerrville Eclipse Festival in Louise Hays Park, and all guests are expected to immediately board the next available shuttle after parking.  Staying at Tivy High School is prohibited.  Shuttles will begin transporting attendees beginning at 8 a.m., with the parking lot opening up at 7:30 a.m.  Shuttle operations will cease transporting attendees from 1-2:30 p.m.

There will be limited, free parking made available on a first-come-first-serve basis in the Parking Garage located at 201 Clay Street in Kerrville.  The Parking Garage is open 24/7, but overnight camping inside the parking garage is strictly prohibited.  Additionally, the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library, 505 Water Street, will have limited first-come-first-serve accessible parking spots available to the public.  Parking alongside the road is not allowed.

Parking spaces to view the eclipse at the Kerrville Sports Complex are still available.  Those wishing to make a reservation at the Sports Complex will have access to water, restrooms, sports fields, and a limited food vendor.  Parking passes cost $75 per vehicle until March 10.  After this date, prices will increase to $100 per vehicle.  Gates to the Sports Complex will open at 8 a.m.  There will be NO shuttle service from the complex to the park.

For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Dept. at (830) 257-7300, or visit the City of Kerrville’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
