Kerrville library set to host numerous eclipse-related events this weekend

The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library is scheduled to host numerous eclipse-related events this weekend leading up to Monday’s, April 8, total solar eclipse, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the Texas Hill Country.  All of the library’s events are free and open to the public, but some of the events do require advanced registration.

On Saturday, April 6, the library is welcoming renowned eclipse expert, Professor Mark Littman, for two special lectures discussing his new book, “Totality:  The Great North American Eclipse of 2024”.  The lectures will take place in the downstairs meeting room at 3 and 4:30 p.m., and seating is limited.

The library is also hosting the Mobile Planetarium that brings the entire solar system into the building.  There will be five 45-minute sessions taking place in the main lobby of the library.  The Planetarium start times are 10:15 and 11:30 a.m., and 12:45, 3:15 and 4:30 p.m.

The library is excited to announce a special event in collaboration with NASA on Sunday, April 7, while also extending the library’s hours, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., to help accommodate this unique opportunity for the community.  Representatives from NASA will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the upcoming eclipse.  A special presentation is planned at 1 p.m. in the library’s meeting room which will offer attendees an in-depth look at the science behind eclipses and their significance.
