Kerrville Mayor Bill Blackburn issued a Declaration of Disaster on Friday, February 4, 2022, as severe winter weather adversely impacted the area. The Declaration states that the City of Kerrville has suffered widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property. The signed Declaration says that the Mayor of Kerrville has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and protect or rehabilitate property.

Pursuant to 418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code, the state of disaster shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of this declaration unless continued or renewed by the City Council of Kerrville.

Pursuant to 418.108 (c) of the Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and be filed promptly with the City Secretary.

Pursuant to 418.109 (d) of the Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster activates the City Emergency Management Plan.

This proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance.

After signing the Declaration, Blackburn said, “Obviously, we won’t have a full assessment of the damage or the economic impact of this storm for a while, but this declaration may enable our community to receive state or federal funds to help individuals and businesses to recover.”
