The Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department has some spooky family fun in store with its upcoming Haunted Ghoul Pool event, scheduled for October 23-24 at the Olympic Pool, 601 Olympic Drive, starting at 5 p.m. Families will have the options of both a family-friendly tour and a terrifying tour to choose from.

Family-friendly tours will run from 5-6:30 p.m. both nights. Those ages 13 and older, wanting to “up” the scare factor, can choose the latter version beginning at 7 p.m., with parental guidance suggested.

The entrance fee is $5 per person for ages 4 and older, and tickets can be purchased online or by calling (830) 257-7300. Tickets are valid for one night only and can be purchased on-site at the event.

The Kerrville Parks and Rec. Dept. is also excited to invite the community to participate in their Scarecrow and Skeletons Showdown, a Halloween decorating contest for both residents and businesses. Photos of your decorations can be submitted via email to recreation@kerrvilletx.gov. by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27 for a chance to win $100.

Submissions will be judged based on the format submitted only and not in-person. Keep in mind that decorations must be appropriate for public display, and the City of Kerrville reserves the right to refuse any entries not conforming to family-oriented quality and high standards of the contest.

There are three different categories for the contest and include: Overall favorite; Spookiest; Funniest. Campaign and political signs are not allowed.

Winners will be announced on Friday, October 29 via various formats including social media, website and press release. For more information contact the Parks and Recreation Dept. at (830) 257-7300, recreation@kerrvilletx.gov, or visit the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
