The Kerrville Independent School District released their updated COVID-19 protocols which includes social distancing measures (3ft.) when feasible. Masks will be optional and teachers may not require students to wear them in their classrooms.

Other preventative measures include providing hand sanitizers at all building entrances and learning spaces, along with disinfecting “high contact” commonly touched surfaces frequently.

Rapid testing can be administered by trained KISD staff to symptomatic or “close contact” students and staff with parent authorization. Additional information on COVID-19 Testing on campus will be provided once the district is approved by the Texas Education Agency and has received shipments of TEA approved COVID-19 testing kits.

COVID positive people and individuals who are symptomatic must isolate until 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared and are fever free for 24 hours. KISD will conduct contact tracing but close contacts will not be required to quarantine.

The district will email letters of positive cases to parents and a “COVID” tracker will be used. Additionally, the Texas Department of Health requires notification of positive cases.

Kerrville ISD will not offer virtual learning as an instructional model. Protocols will be periodically updated based on the public health guidance from Texas Education Agency and/or other authorities.
