The Kerrville Police Department has concluded the Operation Slowdown initiative in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, which ran from July 19 through August 7. The goal of the initiative was to deter speeding and speeding accidents in Kerrville and to help drivers become more aware of their driving habits.
In total, KPD conducted 275 traffic stops, issued 85 citations for speeding, 93 warnings for speeding, and 37 citations for Expired Registration. Other traffic infractions citing during the initiative included: Ran Red Light, Turning Left from Wrong Lane, Failed to Signal Lane Change, Fail to Drive in a Single Lane, and Operate Hand Held Electronic Portable Device While Driving.
KPD confirms that speeding remains a major cause of numerous traffic incidents on Texas roads, affecting countless lives, according to KPD. KPD encourages citizens to continue to be cautious, patient, and mindful of posted speed limits to help ensure the safety of fellow travelers.
