The murder charge against Ashley Alyce Castillo, 26, has been dismissed due to new information obtained during an ongoing investigation, according to a Kerrville Police Department press release.  KPD says it is continuing its investigation into the shooting death of 22-year old Damon Anthony Michael Tampke, which occurred early Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Singing Woods Drive.

Tampke’s death was reported as a suicide after KPD determined that evidence gathered during the initial investigation indicated that the gunshot would was not self-inflicted.  On Saturday, Castillo was placed under arrest for Murder and booked into the Kerr County Jail.  Tampke’s body was transported to the Travis County Medical examiner for an autopsy.  KPD later dismissed the murder charge against Castillo, and she was released from the Kerr County Jail.

The Kerrville Police Department’s investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to work to determine the exact circumstances of the shooting death.  KPD says that no further information will be released at this time. and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
