The Kerrville Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Thursday morning, at about 8:03 a.m., in the 100 block of West McFarland Drive, which left a Kerrville man in critical condition.  According to KPD, officers arrived on the scene and discovered a man, 39 years of age, in front of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers rendered first aid and the wounded individual was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center, before being transported to a San Antonio trauma center by air.  The man underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition.

An initial investigation revealed that the man who was shot went to a residence to confront another man regarding an alleged debt, according to the release.  The resident, a 47-year-old Kerrville man, met the victim at the door.  The man who was shot is accused of brandishing a knife, and was allegedly shot during the confrontation by the resident.

The resident is cooperating with detectives.  At this time, based on preliminary information available to authorities, it appears the resident acted in self-defense.  Upon completion of this investigation, it will be sent to the 216th District Attorney’s Office for review and consideration.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call 830-258-1311.
