The Kerrville Police Department has issued some Friday morning weather-related updates, specifically in regards to area road conditions. According to KPD’s Facebook page, travel conditions are worse than they were yesterday, and it is advised that residents refrain from all non-essential travel.

At roughly 7:30 a.m., IH 10 Westbound was at a standstill due to an accident and blockage around 481. Eastbound towards San Antonio remains open but is very slick in certain places, and the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office has dealt with multiple accidents throughout the night. Additionally, Holdsworth Drive remains closed to traffic.

The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office reports that both SH 16 N between Kerrville and Fredericksburg and RM 783 to Harper have blockages due to stalled and stuck vehicles. GCSO discourages travel on these roadways.

The National Weather Service reports that hard freezes in the teens to low 20’s are in the forecast for Friday through Sunday morning across all of South Central Texas. Travel will continue to be very difficult on roads, especially on elevated bridges and overpasses. Residents should also beware of slippery sidewalks, driveways and parking lots.
