KPD releases more details following Tuesday carjacking crash

The Kerrville Police Department has identified the suspect who was killed in a fatal crash that took place Tuesday, October 17, following a carjacking.  According to a press release, a handgun was recovered from the vehicle driven by the suspect.

The name of the suspect killed in the crash is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  According to KPD, the suspect had an extensive criminal history dating back to 1995, and was released on parole from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in December 2022.  KPD will release the suspect’s name once proper notifications have been completed.

KPD has confirmed that a handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle the suspect was driving.  It is still unknown at this time how the suspect acquired a handgun, or why the suspect was in the area.

KPD is continuing to investigate the initial carjacking and crash.  KPD will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.
