Monday is the last day to register to vote or update voter information before ballots are cast in one of the state’s most closely watched election races. One of the biggest races on the ballot is the U.S. Senate runoff between incumbent John Cornyn and challenger Ken Paxton. In the March primary, Cornyn and Paxton finished as the top two candidates, but neither secured a majority, forcing a runoff. Cornyn led by roughly 26,000 votes.
To register, voters must be at least 18 years old and provide a Texas driver’s license, Texas ID card or the last four digits of their Social Security number.
Already registered voters who have moved or changed their name can update information through the Texas Secretary of State website. Mail-in registration forms must be postmarked by today, or voters can register in person at their local elections office.
Early voting for the runoff runs May 18 through May 22. Election Day is May 26.
