The City of Kerrville municipal offices, the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library and the city secretary’s office will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of the July 4 Independence Day Holiday.

All city parks and facilities, including the Olympic Pool, Carver Park Sprayground, and the Parks and Recreation office at Kerrville-Schreiner Park, will remain open on Independence Day.

All municipal offices and the library will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, July 5.  Anyone needing assistance can email City Secretary Shelley McElhannon at shelley.mcelhannon@kerrvilletx.gov.

The City of Kerrville wants to remind citizens that it is illegal for any person to sell, use, shoot, discharge, explode, ignite, possess or display fireworks within the Kerrville city limits.  Fines for offenses range from $500 to $2,000.

The City is also encouraging all citizens to join the scheduled Monday, July 4th “Fourth on the River” event which will culminate in a professionally-monitored fireworks show beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. in Louise Hays Park, 202 Thompson Drive.

All additional public fireworks displays are permissible provided that all state and local laws are met and a permit is issued.  However, due to the current weather environment, the use of fireworks by individuals is discouraged.
