The pretrial in the shooting death of “King of the Hill” actor Jonathan Joss began in a Bexar County courtroom on Tuesday. Joss was shot in June 2025 outside what was left of his burned down home on Dorsey Street on the city’s South Side.
Joss is well known for voicing John Redcorn on King of the Hill and playing Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation.
Investigators say an argument with his neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez, led to the shooting. According to an arrest report, Alvarez told officers at the scene, “I shot him,” before being taken into custody. Officers had been called to the home more than 60 times for various disturbances, welfare checks and mental health concerns, according to reports.
Alvarez posted a $200,000 bond in June, according to county jail records. No motions were filed on Tuesday. The trial date was set to May 13 at 9:00 a.m.
