Reward being offered for information regarding wanted murder suspect

Kerr County Crimestoppers has announced it will pay a reward up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest of Alejandro Cantu, a wanted murder suspect. Cantu, 31, is 6’0, weighs 165 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. He also has a ‘Cantu’ tattoo on his left forearm among other tattoos.

The Kerr County Sheriff”s Office had gained information that the two suspects who were wanted for murder in Wisconsin had been hiding out in Ingram. U.S. Marshals were actively seeking the two brothers, Alejandro and Gustavo Cantu for an alleged drug-related murder that had occurred in April.

At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, officers conducted a traffic stop to serve a felony warrant within a few miles of their last reported location at the 1000 block of Candelite Drive, in Ingram. Inside the vehicle were Gustavo Cantu and a female passenger. According to a press release, officials had credible evidence to make an entry into the home and arrest the suspects.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha discussed the recent incident during Monday’s regularly scheduled Kerr County Commissioners Court meeting describing the “breach and announce” operation. Two tactical teams composed of officers from the City of Kerrville and Kerr County broke down the home’s front door, threw in a flash bang, before utilizing an outside public address system.

Gustavo Cantu, 39, was charged with Murder, Felony Possession of THC and Felony Bail jumping. Naomi Rode, also from Wisconsin, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Failure to appear charged from Wisconsin.

“These suspects have evaded law enforcement nationwide for almost four months, and our investigators and teams have hopefully brought this string of criminal activity to an end. We appreciate the cooperation of the KPD and the entire team that continues to work on this case,” said Leitha.
