Sept. 9 blood drive scheduled at Hill Country Youth Event Center

Kerr County residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Monday, September 9 blood drive, which is planned by South Texas Blood & Tissue in the Happy State Bank Expo Hall of the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 TX-27 in Kerrville.  Those planning to give are asked to sign up in advance for one of the available appointment times offered every 15 minutes between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All blood types are needed, especially O+ and O- types.  Blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 120 pounds and present a signed parental consent form, or be 17 years or older and weigh at least 110 pounds.  Donors must also be in good general health and present a valid photo ID at the time of donation.

Certain prescription medications prevent donors from completing the process.  A list of those medications is available on the South Texas Blood & Tissue website at https://biobridgeglobal.org/donors/.
