Suspicious package prompted evacuations in Fredericksburg Monday

A suspicious package that prompted evacuations in Fredericksburg on Monday was declared safe by authorities, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Officers responded to the area of Creek Street and South Adams Street and, as a precaution, cleared nearby residents and business owners.

The San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad evaluated and cleared the package at approximately 3:20 p.m., Police said.  Authorities lifted the evacuation order and reopened the area to traffic.
