The City of Kerrville officially debuted two new pieces to its public art inventory on April 24, one at Carver Park, 820 Webster Street, and one on the third floor of the Downtown public parking garage, 201 Clay Street.
With the support of Big Seed and funding by the Kerr County Lead, local artist George Waring brought his vision of promoting community influence to life in the Doyle District dual-piece mural titled “Game Changerz” and “Eagles Fly with Eagles,” with both intended to celebrate Annie Walker Doyle and B.T. Wilson. Both individuals were integral in educating the city’s African-American youth, and creating a sense of togetherness amongst community members.
Also joining the City’s public art inventory is a piece on the third floor of the City’s public parking garage. Facilitated through the Kerrville Urban Trail System (KUTS) and funded through the Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau, this artwork entitled “Anole” was painted by Anat Ronen and portrays a colorful lizard in vibrant colors.
For additional information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (830) 257-7300, or visit the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
