Weekly ‘Recall Roundup’

~The Food and Drug Administration announced a recall for one lot of Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc.’s thyroid tablets as they are “superpotent” and can cause hyperthyroidism.  In a recall notice Monday, the company said its thyroid tablets, USP 30 mg with the lot number 504950, were potentially superpotent.  Those at greater risk are the elderly, pregnant women and infants, especially if consumed over extended periods of time.

The recalled lot was distributed nationwide in the U.S. from Jan. 31, 2025 to Sept. 30, 2025.  Consumers with questions about the recall can contact the company by email at safety@vitruvias.com or by phone at (256) 239-9373 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time.

~Mini donuts distributed to retailers nationwide and sold on Amazon are being recalled because they contain an undeclared milk allergen.  The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on Monday, reporting that the desserts were recalled following a report of an allergic reaction.  The Better Bakehouse Snack Company recalled certain lots of its Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts.

The donuts were packaged in 7.05 oz. cartons, containing 10 mini donuts.  They can be identified by lot code 26078 and the Best if used by date of Sept. 15, 2026.  Those who have the recalled products are urged to dispose of them and get a refund from the place of purchase.  Consumers with questions may contact the company at 800-243-0335 Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

~Conair is expanding its recall of metal wire bristle grill brushes, adding about 1.9 million units to a recall first issued in July-bringing the total number of recalled brushes to roughly 3.6 million, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday.  The brushes pose an ingestion hazard because small metal brushes can detach and stick to the grill grates or to food, risking serious internal injuries that could require surgery if swallowed, according to the recall notice.

Conair said it is aware of at least 54 reports and reviews of bristles detaching from brushes, including three cases in which consumers swallowed metal bristles and needed medical treatment to remove them from their throat or digestive tract.  The recalled brushes have black plastic, stainless steel or wood handles.  Conair said any Cuisinart wire bristle grill brush sold individually or as part of a set before 2020 is included in the recall, even if its model number is not listed.

The brushes were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx and Ross, as well as online through Amazon and Cuisinart.com, from June 2009 through March 2026 for between $8 and $20.  Customers should stop using the brushes immediately and contact Conair for a full refund or for a Cuisinart.com credit worth the refund amount plus 20%.  For additional questions contact the company at 888-520-1304 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at recallrtr.com/grillbrushes.

~Nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina and sold in Texas and Florida is under recall, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as questions swirl around the beef.  The beef recall notice points to missed import re-inspections as the cause, but the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service classified the recalled beef as a Class I health hazard, the agency’s highest risk category.  The recall notice did not mention any specific contaminants.

The recalled beef was produced by Frigorifico Gorina SAIC in Argentina between May 15 and May 20, 2026.  It is advised people check their freezers for Shipping Mark: 26644-AA.  Either throw the product away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
