Kerr County has announced several upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics as Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas said he is “hopeful” after viewing the county’s most recent local hospitalization number of COVID-19 patients. As of Friday, August 13, there were 20 COVID patients being treated in Peterson Regional Medical Center, down from 31 inpatients just the day before.
“I hope this is the start of a downward trend with fewer, severe cases in our county. In the meantime, I urge everyone to practice the safety precautions that have been proven to work – cover your face in public places, distance yourselves from others by six feet or more, wash your hands frequently, disinfect home and work spaces and, if you haven’t already done so, please protect yourself and others around you against the virus’ most severe effects by getting one of the readily available vaccines,” Thomas said.
Kerr County’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 96 after PRMC recorded another fatality on August 12. Additionally, the number of active cases grew worse as the week wore on, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services, which confirmed 164 infected people by August 13.
Citizens can view novel coronavirus data online at the DSHS “Dashboard” by visiting www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/AdditionalData.aspx.
