The City of Kerrville’s annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event, held in partnership with Kerr County, will be Saturday, October 23 from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 Hwy. 27. This event is intended for Kerr County residents only and will be conducted as a first-come, first-served event in which vehicles must be inside the gate prior to noon.

All HHW items must be in containers not greater than five gallons and large amounts may be rejected. It is recommended that all items be placed in a box to allow for easy transport.

It is also recommended that latex paint be set out to dry and then disposed of in a trash bag with your regular household garbage collection instead of dropping it off. If brought to the event, there is a limit of 25 gallons of paint per vehicle.

Accepted household hazardous waste items include batteries, cleaning products, pool chemicals thermometers and other items. Tires will be limited to eight per vehicle.

Items that are prohibited include medications, ammunition, explosives, gas cylinders and antifreeze. For a complete list along with additional questions pertaining to this event, contact the Kerrville City Public Works Department at (830) 792-2200.

The Kerrville Police Department will be conducting a Drug Take Back on October 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the police station’s parking lot at 429 Sidney Baker. Those attending are asked to separate solids, liquids and aerosols and NO needles or injectors will be accepted. For further information call (830) 258-1371.
