Gillespie County Commissioners met on Monday and declined to take action after some residents spoke in favor of switching the November General Election to a hand-count system because of fears for the potential hacking of voting machines. Jim Riley, the elections administrator, spoke against it saying that ballots are hand-marked, then tabulated with a scanner. Gillespie County Judge Daniel Jones is waiting to hear back from the Secretary of State’s office regarding some questions the county has regarding this issue.
