On Saturday afternoon a brushfire burned across 46 acres in Gillespie County near U.S. 290 East across from Chaparral Village.  All Gillespie County fire departments responded, multiple structures were saved and no injuries were reported, according to a Fredericksburg/Gillespie County Emergency Management release.

The fire was reported at 3:45 p.m. along U.S. 290 East and McCarty Lane.  At 4:40 p.m., Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office deputies closed U.S. 290 to east and westbound traffic.  After the forward progression of the fire was stopped, law enforcement opened U.S. 290 at 5:30 p.m.

Crews continued work on hot spots and smoldering hay where the fire began near Grass Valley Trail.
