A suspect died in a shooting involving police Wednesday evening following a motorcycle pursuit that ended on Interstate 10 in Kerr County.

According to a Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office (GSCO) Facebook post, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. March 11.  A GSCO deputy was conducting a traffic stop on the motorcyclist.  Authorities said the suspect failed to stop, leading to a pursuit that ended on I-10 in Kerr County.  When the motorist came to a stop, the suspect got off, took out a handgun and pointed it at the deputy.  The deputy then fired at the suspect, according to a release.

After the shooting, the deputy provided medical aide to the suspect, who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation reported the motorcycle was stolen and originally from Canada.  GSCO said the Texas Department of Public Safety would take over the investigation.

The suspect’s identity has not yet been revealed.
