Citizens who participated in the mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic on May 3-7 in Kerr County, receiving their first shot of the Moderna vaccine, are invited to return to get their necessary second dose during a follow-up clinic June 1-2. The Texas Military Department distributed 666 vaccines during this week.
The Texas National Guard will be conducting the clinic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the course of those two days at the First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive in Kerrville.
“Although pre-registration is not necessary and this will be a walk-up clinic, the only ones who will be given the Moderna vaccine will be those who qualified for it by receiving their first shots during the initial clinic,” said Dub Thomas, coordinator of Kerr County Emergency Services.
The Moderna vaccine requires two shots a few weeks apart. According to the CDC, individuals are considered fully vaccinated after receiving both doses.
Anyone else interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine can contact www.petersonhealth.com or visit the Texas DSHS website which details all vaccine availability of state providers.
The number of COVID-19 active cases in Texas has dropped to its lowest total since October 15, with 78,136 cases. As of May 22, 40.70% of all eligible Texans are fully vaccinated and 51% have had at least one dose.
As of May 24, Kerr County is reporting 30 active coronavirus cases and 2 COVID-19 hospitalizations. The county’s official virus related death toll stands at 88.
The confirmed number of Kerr County residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is 15,224 and 18,573 county residents have had at least one dose.
The CDC said Sunday that at least 25 states, plus Washington D.C., have now fully vaccinated at least half of their adults, and roughly 61% of American adults have received at least one dose.
