City of Kerrville announcements and reminders

The City of Kerrville municipal offices, the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library, and the Parks and Recreation Department office located at Kerrville-Schreiner Park will be closed Monday, January 18 in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday. Additionally, the city secretary’s office will be closed in observance of the MLK Holiday.

Kerrville-Schreiner Park and the city’s landfill and transfer station will remain open during regularly scheduled hours Monday, January 18. Anyone with questions regarding these closures can contact the City of Kerrville at (830) 257-8000.

The city is encouraging everyone to review the city’s list of unclaimed property on the city’s website at https://kerrvilletx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/36809/Unclaimed-Property-011521. In addition, check for unclaimed property that the State is holding by viewing the State Comptroller’s list at: https://claimittexas.org. Instructions for searching for and claiming property from the state are located on this site.

The City of Kerrville wants to remind citizens that the Clock Tower Enclosure project is scheduled to begin construction activities Friday, January 15, and starting Monday, January 18, the sky bridge, clock tower elevator, and stairs to Peterson Plaza will be closed for approximately one week. During this time an alternate route will need to be utilized for access to Peterson Plaza and City Hall.

The alternate route from the downtown parking garage will utilize the street-level Water Street and Sidney Baker traffic signal, then proceed through Peterson Plaza around the construction fencing to City Hall. Public access via the sky bridge and clock tower elevator will remain out of service for the duration of the construction project (165-day contract), but will be more weather resilient and reliable at the end of construction.

The two elevators within the downtown parking garage will continue to be available for use. In addition, numerous handicap accessible parking spaces will continue to be available in the City Hall parking lot off Main Street, as well as various downtown locations along Water Street and Earl Garrett.
