The Boerne Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Kristin Craft as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Boerne ISD at a special meeting on November 15. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Dr. Craft to be the new Superintendent. She will be replacing current Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price, who announced he will be retiring at the end of this current academic school year.
Craft will become the first female Superintendent in the history of Boerne ISD, has been an educator for over 28 years, and has served as Associate Superintendent of Academics and Chief Academic Officer in Spring Branch ISD since 2018. Additionally, Craft has spent 20 years serving in District Leadership Roles, as well as serving 12 years as a principal. While at Spring Branch ISD, Craft was instrumental in helping the district earn a finalist award for the HEB Excellence in Education Best Large School District in 2023, as well as exceeding State and Region in college readiness indicators: AP/IB results, OnRamps course credits, and SAT/ACT results (TAPR) in 2021 and 2022.
Carlin Friar, President of the BISD Board of Trustees, stated, “Dr. Craft stood out from the other applicants, as she has been instrumental in the academic success made by the Spring Branch students , she helped close learning gaps after the pandemic, strengthened SBISD’s career and technical education program, helped pass an important bond, and much more… The Board focused on finding the right leader who will continue to build on the successes of Boerne ISD, and Dr. Craft is that person.”
The Board is scheduled to vote to officially hire Dr. Craft on December 7th. When Dr. Craft officially begins her tenure in January 2024, Dr. Price will transition to Superintendent Emeritus and serve as an advisor until his retirement at the end of the year.
