Beginning May 14, the Kerrville City Council will take up a tree preservation ordinance that will limit the removal of certain sizes and varieties of trees withing the Kerrville City limits. According to a press release, the City has trees within its community that may fit into a protected category that are struggling, diseased or dying and need to be removed.
The City says it currently has seven trees that should be removed and have been evaluated by a licensed arborist. The trees are scheduled to be removed in the next two weeks.
Additionally, there are some trees located on the A.C. Schreiner House campus that have succumbed to wilt. These trees will also be removed to protect public property and pedestrians.
The proposed tree preservation ordinance is intended to help protect the beautiful, older trees while also allowing land owners to remove trees whenever necessary due to disease and damage.
