Crews continue to battle a wildfire just west of Fredericksburg in Gillespie County with Fredericksburg Fire/EMS Department, in conjunction with the volunteer fire departments of Gillespie County, and the Texas A&M Forest Service leading the efforts. The fire broke out around 2:45 p.m. near the 400 block of East Grand Oaks Drive, moving east and north, according to officials. The fire is currently located before U.S. Highway 290 and Reeh-Weinheimer Road.
As of Wednesday morning, the affected area is estimated at 75 acres and is 55% contained. There are no known road closures at this time, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
The City of Fredericksburg is urging the public to avoid the area as crews continue to work. Residents are also advised to avoid activities that could potentially ignite additional fires.
