The recalled broccoli that was sold at Walmart locations in 20 states, including Texas, has been elevated to the highest level status by the FDA, meaning risk of “death.” Braga Fresh voluntarily recalled certain 12-ounce bags of Market side Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart locations across the United States on December 21. On Friday, the recall was raised to Class 1, according to the FDA.

Class 1 is a “situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,” according to the FDA. The product was recalled due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The affected broccoli has a best-by-date of Dec. 10 and is no longer on the shelves. Some customers may still have the product in their freezers. The UPC code on the affected “washed and ready-to-eat” bags is “6 81131 32884 5.” The lot code is “BFFG327A6.”

Those who purchased the affected products or those with concerns can call Braga Fresh at 877-456-7445 Monday through Friday. People can also email the company at WeCare@bragafresh.com
