After a CodeRed alert was issued Tuesday announcing that Kerr County was opening its first round of vaccine clinic registrations, all available slots were taken within one minute. “The available appointments were gone within one minute. It was incredible,” according to Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas.

Thomas said that the county has a huge number of people wanting vaccines, and there was a limited number of vaccines in this week’s shipment. Kerr County officials are hopeful that there will be another shipment of vaccines next week, and county health leaders want to see that everyone who wants a vaccine can get a shot.

There are additional COVID-19 vaccine providers in the area, including the Walmart Pharmacy, Walgreen’s pharmacy and Hill Country Memorial in Gillespie County.

Feb. 1 Vaccine Shipment Providers: 300 doses-Walmart Pharmacy, Walmart.com; 200 doses-Walgreen’s Pharmacy, Walgreens.com; 400 doses-HEB Pharmacy, https://vaccine.heb/scheduler; 300 doses-Peterson Regional Medical Center, Kerrville; 1,200 doses-Hill Country Memorial, given at Hill Country University Center, 2818 US 290, Fredericksburg; 200 doses-DSHS; SA Metro Health District, (210) 207-6000; Uvalde Memorial Hospital, (830) 407-8022.

Kerr County encourages citizens to sign up for the county’s CodeRed system which broadcasts public health notices and all important messages regarding impending emergencies, such as flooding, severe storms, hazardous spills, etc. Sign up for CodeRed by visiting the county’s site at https://www.co.kerr.tx.us/eservices or by visiting the City of Kerrville’s site at www.kerrville.tx.gov.

The county has set up an ongoing COVID-19 Call Center for citizens wanting information and/or assistance in receiving an inoculation, COVID-19 testing sites etc… The Call Center is available Mondays through Fridays, between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at (830) 315-5900.

As of February 2, Kerr County is reporting 254 active COVID-19 cases, 10 patients hospitalized at PRMC due to virus related complications and 77 official fatalities due to the novel coronavirus.
