Kerr County officials released the latest COVID-19 county statistics Monday saying this report will be the last one distributed for the foreseeable future because the Texas Department of State Health Services will no longer be sending out virus-related spreadsheets. According to Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas, “They are going back to ‘normal,’ pre-pandemic operations.”

The Texas DSHS data, which showed active, recovered and deceased cases, had been used alongside other local sources when aggregating information as it pertained to Kerr County. Thomas said, “I won’t be able to give a complete, current picture without it.”

The state agency recommends that anyone wanting to obtain current COVID-19-related numbers visit the DSHS COVID-19 ‘Dashboard.’ The site can be found at http://dshs.texas.gov, and the actual case counts are listed under “Texas Case Counts.”

Thomas wants to remind citizens that the virus is not gone, despite regular updates discontinuing. He encourages everyone to maintain and practice safety precautions and recommendations.

As of June 28, Kerr County has 23 active COVID-19 cases; 4,483 recoveries; 92 fatalities and 4 coronavirus hospitalizations. The county has received 20,100 total COVID-19 vaccines that have been issued to all of the providers in Kerr County, and 17,544 Kerr County residents are fully vaccinated.

There are 11.8 million Texans that are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which equates to 49.13% of all of those eligible to receive the vaccine. As of June 28, Texas has 56,743 active COVID-19 cases; 1,428 hospitalizations and the state’s official COVID-19 death toll stands at 51,201.
