The Kerrville Police Department has confirmed that a local man died following a Thursday morning multi-vehicle accident. According to a press release, on July 20 at about 11:06 a.m., four vehicles were involved in a traffic collision in the 2600 block of State Highway 27, Junction Highway. One driver was killed as a result of the collision, and the other three drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Peterson Regional Medical Center.
An initial investigation indicates a Chevrolet Silverado pickup turned east onto Junction Highway from Blue Ridge Road and collided with a Toyota Corolla sedan, which was travelling west on Junction Highway. A Ford transit van travelling west behind the Toyota Corolla changed lanes to avoid the accident but also collided with the pickup. The preliminary investigation also stated that a spare tire became dislodged from the underside of the pickup and struck a fourth vehicle which was stopped at a stop sign on Blue Ridge Road.
KPD and Kerrville Fire EMS arrived at the scene and assisted those involved in the accident. Kerrville resident Bruce Rische, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene. KPD is conducting an investigation into the crash.
