The Kerrville Police Department has confirmed that they will be ramping up traffic enforcement thanks to a grant funded through the Texas Department of Transportation Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). Additional officers will be working traffic enforcement on an overtime basis beginning December 16, 2024 through January 1, 2025.
During this time frame, KPD officers will be conducting extra traffic enforcement patrols with the goal of encouraging safe driving throughout Kerrville. Officers will be targeting all traffic violations, with a particular focus on Driving While Intoxicated offenses.
“We want everyone to be safe this holiday season,” Kerrville Chief of Police Chris McCall said. “Our KPD team will be keeping a sharp eye out for speeding vehicles and other unsafe driving. This holiday STEP program is not only meant to supplement our regular enforcement efforts, but to also encourage drivers to slow down and be safe while they’re utilizing our roadways.”
