The City of Kerrville has announced that due to newly discovered structural issues beneath the pool shell, Olympic Pool will not re-open this summer. As a result, the Olympic Pool will reopen for the 2027 summer season.
According to the city’s Facebook page, construction crews uncovered hollow cavities beneath the portions of the 56-year old pool shell and near the area where the new pool house will be built. While this issue will not require additional funding, it will take additional time to properly stabilize the area and ensure the pool is safe and built to last.
The City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department’s recreation team is already working on Plan B to include more water activities and events for this summer and will share more news as soon as it is available.
