Youths 12 and older can receive COVID-19 vaccine at Kerr County clinic

Kerr County officials are wanting to get the word out that youths aged 12 years and older in Kerr County can join adults in receiving a free COVID-19 vaccine during a planned Tuesday, June 15 clinic. All three FDA authorized vaccines – the two shot Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and the one-shot Janssen vaccine – will be available during the event which will be held at the Barnett Chapel United Methodist Church, 710 Paschal Avenue in Kerrville.

The clinic will be available to citizens from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with inoculations being available on a walk-in basis.

According to Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas, “We are excited that the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Doyle Community Center are hosting this vaccination event, and young people will finally be able to receive protection against the novel coronavirus.”

Thomas released the most recent Kerr County COVID-19 statistics which show 23 active cases, 4,460 recoveries, 89 confirmed fatalities and 4 hospitalizations. As of June 14, 34,872 vaccines have been administered to Kerr County residents, no matter where the individual was officially given the shot(s).

The Texas DSHS is reporting that 10.8 million Texans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which equates to 45.1%.
