Kerr County commissioners have signed a proclamation recognizing next Tuesday, September 28, 2021, as National Voter Registration Day, encouraging all of those who are not yet registered to vote to do so before the October 4 deadline.
Kerr County residents wanting to find out if they are already registered can visit: https://www.votetexas.gov/register/index.html. This same site can be used for anyone wishing to register, or residents can visit in person, the Kerr County Courthouse Elections Department, 700 Main Street in Kerrville.
“This nonpartisan civic holiday is important, because it not only celebrates our democracy, but also it represents a concentrated effort across our great nation by volunteers and organizations who will get out into neighborhoods and help Americans register so that they can vote in the upcoming Constitutional Amendment Election on Tuesday, November 2,” said Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector Bob Reeves.
In Texas, the upcoming November 2 ballot for the Constitutional Amendment Election will have eight state propositions, including giving residents of certain facilities the right to appoint an essential caregiver for in-person visitation. Another much discussed proposition is making an exemption from certain ad valorem taxes for surviving spouses of military service personnel who died in the line of duty.
Some residents living in Center Point and Hunt will be voting on the possibility of creating an Emergency Service District for their respective areas.
Sample ballots are listed by voting precinct numbers and are available on the county’s website at www.co.kerr.tx.us/elections/. For additional information call (830) 792-2242.
