The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Criminal Investigations Division, arrested a Comfort man on numerous charges following a joint-cooperative effort after having established surveillance of the suspect who was involved in an active investigation. On February 10, authorities arrested 35-year old Jeffrey McCollum following a traffic stop on Falls Creek Road.

According to a press release, when investigators asked the subject to exit the vehicle, he refused and proceeded to drive away. McCollum’s actions led to a pursuit that reached over 130 miles per hour, covering more than 31 miles. The high-speed chase continued from Falls Creek Road to Lower Turtle Creek Road, through Center Point, before finally ending on Cross Creek Ranch Road. As officers stopped the suspect’s car, a foot chase began. McCollum was eventually apprehended after being tasered twice, following a brief struggle.

KCSO is reporting that McCollum was found to be in possession of nineteen grams of Methamphetamine. He was transported to the Kerr County Jail and booked on a Burglary of a Habitation warrant, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport. The bond for Burglary of a Habitation warrant was set at $75,000. No bond has been set for the additional charges.

“This suspect showed a clear disregard for the safety of others, and we are pleased to have him in custody – along with a substantial amount of Methamphetamine off the streets,” said Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha.
