City of Kerrville begins its bulky item collection pick-up services March 7

The City of Kerrville Public Works Department will begin its curbside bulky item collection pick-up service on March 7 for residential units that have an active account for solid waste services with the City. The City recommends that customers place their items curbside the weekend before their collection begins, or by 7:30 a.m. on the Monday of their designated collection week.

Collection weeks are based on a customer’s regular garbage collection day:

Monday: March 7-11

Tuesday: March 14-18

Wednesday/Thursday: March 21-25

Items are not to be placed on top of water meters, and are to avoid close proximity with power lines, vehicles, gas/water lines and mail boxes. Any item that requires freon must have a tag from a licensed technician indicating that the freon has been reclaimed.

The City is prohibiting certain items from being included in this service, including: tires, new/used oil, ammunition, yard waste, fencing, household paints/chemicals, all types of glass, batteries and construction debris.

The City wants to remind citizens that it is their responsibility to remove any items not collected due to improper placement, and items left out after 10 days are subject to Code Enforcement. Additionally, scavenging of items without the consent of the property owner is prohibited.

This service is intended for discarding bulky items such as appliances, miscellaneous furniture, and other items that do not fit inside garbage carts. This service is not intended for large quantities of household waste placed in bags or containers. Residents needing to dispose large quantities of items can contact the City prior to placing them curbside.
