KCSO arrests individual following traffic stop on I-10, after seizing 13 pounds of marijuana

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office announced that the newly established Multi-County Criminal Interdiction Unit made a recent arrest following a large drug bust along Interstate 10.

According to a KCSO press release, investigators initiated a traffic stop after noticing a 2013 Nissan Altima changing speeds rapidly, not maintaining a proper lane of travel and driving on the shoulder of the highway.

Upon approaching the vehicle, investigators discovered there were four occupants inside the vehicle and detected the smell of marijuana.

After authorities initiated an inspection of the vehicle, reports say that twelve, large vacuum bags containing marijuana, concealed underneath U.S. currency, were discovered inside the trunk of the vehicle.

After conducting additional interviews of all four occupants of the car, it was determined that the 13.2 pounds of marijuana found in the trunk of the car belonged to the driver.

The driver, Eric Demond Porter, Jr., 19, of Humble, Texas, was arrested for felony possession of marijuana >5lbs<=50 lbs and booked into the Kerr County Jail.

“Our investigator did a great job intercepting this trafficking activity on the Interstate. We are working 24 hours a day to disrupt smuggling routes through Kerr County,” said Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha.
