Additional smoke testing will take place next week in Comanche Trace

The City of Kerrville’s Wastewater Collections department will be performing additional smoke testing in the Comanche Trace subdivision on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 25-26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. The smoke testing will impact Comanche Trace Drive, Pinnacle View Drive, Oak Park Drive, Stone Creek Drive, Club House Road, Cielo Drive, Sunset Park Drive, and Ranch Road 2771 (Lower Turtle Creek Road).

City officials say that some street crossover will occur because of sewer system connections.

During the test, City of Kerrville employees will blow a dense white smoke into the sanitary sewer system. The smoke will escape again through openings such as holes in manhole covers and plumbing vent pipes located on or near rooftops, cracks or breaks, and illegally connected roof or area drains.

The smoke is odorless, non-toxic and non-staining, and will dissipate quickly. Residents should not be alarmed if they detect smoke on their premises. Smoke should only enter your premises if the traps in your home are dry or defective, or if there are uncapped or broken drain pipes. Residents who see smoke in their home should call the Wastewater Collections department at (830) 258-1224. Residents who detect smoke can also open a door or window.
