Pioneer Museum celebrating its 180th anniversary of its founding with numerous weekend events

The City of Fredericksburg and the Pioneer Museum will have programming throughout this weekend in celebration of the 180th anniversary of its founding.

The 2026 Pioneer Spirit award recipient Evelyn Weinheimer is scheduled to give a presentation on Friday at the GCHS sanctuary, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Live demonstrations, including blacksmithing and weapons demonstrations will take place at Pioneer Museum on Saturday.  The museum has a temporary exhibit on display, America 250th open for visitors.  The Historic Gillespie County Jail and Vereins Kirche Museum will be open over the weekend from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  The jail is only open on Saturday.

The German Choirs of Fredericksburg Maifest will be open on Sunday, May 3 at the St. Mary’s Holy Family Center, at 6 p.m.
