KCSO makes Animal Cruelty arrest

On September 18, 2026, a Kerr County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a home in the 3200 block of Medina Highway in Kerrville, for a call related to a missing family dog.  Upon wider search of the property, the dog was discovered dead in a nearby creek.

Based upon the manner of the animal’s death and deputy interviews, it is alleged that Cade Joseph Stanton, 34, of Kerrville, intentionally killed an animal in a cruel way without the effective consent of the owner, in violation of Texas Penal Code 42.092.

Stanton was placed under arrest and booked into the Kerr County Jail on an animal cruelty charge, with bond set at $10,000.  As in all criminal cases, charges may be added or modified prior to trial.
