Fredericksburg Music Academy orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 5:30 p.m.  The academy's after-school program for kindergarten through fifth-grade students is from 4-5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting from August 26 at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 Llano St., in Fredericksburg. The Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department has announced that, effective today, the recreation hall and the 30 and 50-amp RV loops on the river side of Kerrville-Schreiner Park have reopened and are available for reservation.  However, due to severe infrastructure damage, river access remains unavailable. Starting Thursday, Kerr County is beginning to evaluate buildings and homes damaged by the July 4 floods.  This step is part of the necessary process when the president declares a flooding disaster.  The county says the assessments are necessary to make sure homeowner's build back safer and stronger. The Kerrville Chamber of Commerce is actively seeking donations to resume grants for flood-hit businesses.  The chamber has collected roughly $1.4 million in donations, with some of that money coming from the Community Foundation.
