Louise Hays Park interactive fountain to temporarily close for maintenance

The Louise Hays Park interactive fountain will be closed for maintenance beginning Sunday, August 22. The work is expected to take one week, and the fountain will reopen once complete. The Carver Park Sprayground, 820 Webster Street, will continue to be open daily to the public through October. The Sprayground is closed Tuesdays for maintenance. COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations remain high in region

Active cases of COVID-19 in Kerr County continue to climb this week, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. As of Thursday, August 19, there are 223 active cases, an increase of 37 cases in the county since Monday. Also, Peterson Health reported the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations remained fairly steady throughout the week. As of Thursday, the facility was treating 27 coronavirus patients. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday, the governor's office announced in a press release. The release states, "Governor Abbott is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, in good health, and currently experiencing no symptoms. The Kerrville Independent School District released their updated COVID-19 protocols which includes social distancing measures (3ft.) when feasible. Masks will be optional and teachers may not require students to wear them in their classrooms.
