Peterson Regional Medical Center announced that as of Wednesday, June 1, all employees in direct patient care areas or identified health care points will be required to wear facial coverings due to an uptick of COVID-19 hospitalizations. PRMC reports they have averaged at least four coronavirus hospitalizations per day during the past 30 days.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have updated their language, which now stipulates that all hospitals and health care settings must adhere to the state’s mandated Integrated Community Transmission Level. The state’s threshold for alert status in regards to COVID-19 is 5% positivity rate.

PRMC staff will continue to screen and test for the virus upon admission to the facility and all visitors and guests will be required to wear masks.

COVID-19 hospitalizations statewide have climbed above 1,000 for the first time in several weeks, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. TX DSHS reported that as of Wednesday, June 1, 1,144 people were hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

Other statistics confirmed by the TX DSHS on June 1: The 7-day rolling case average stands at 3,548; the confirmed death toll due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began is 86,819; The number of eligible Texans who are fully vaccinated against the virus is 60.74%.. Of that number, 23.77% have had booster doses.

On a side note, Peterson Health was extremely pleased to announce Thursday that they have been named one of the nation’s “Best Places to Work” by Modern Healthcare for the second consecutive year. PRMC is one of only 150 U.S. healthcare organizations or businesses to receive this award.
